EXCUSES

I have a list of excuses that I thought I would try as to why I haven’t been able to blog. Choose the one that best fits you.

1. I spilled vodka on the keyboard and my computer broke. #Fail
2. Life’s boring. Nothing’s been happening. #Lies
3. I was abducted by aliens. #NotSoMuch

The real reason is I am extremely lazy, superficially overwhelmed, commonly late, in appropriately despondent and casually unorganized. Simply put - I’m a fuckin’ mess.

A majority of the things in my life have changed since my last update. I left off on 30Apr10. ….fast forward 210 and some odd days ahead and what feels like a whirlwind of every which way.

OUT OF THE OFFICE

First and probably most prominent in my blog is that I don’t work for www.rentboy.com anymore in the office. It was a big change for me not to work in the office for www.rentboy.com. As Joey Potter said in ‘Dawson’s Creek’, “Things change, people change, Dawson.” It was hard on the company to begin with when I decided to move back to Las Vegas from Hollywood, but I did it anyway. …that compounded with my growing inability to focus and challenge myself left me wandering in my own office. My original intent was to find a hotel job that would fill just two weeks a month and I would work for www.rentboy.com the other two weeks. I found an amazing hotel job that would fill more than that VERY quickly.

FROM PUTTING THE HO IN HOTEL TO TRAINING THE HOTEL

I went about three months looking for a job that was more on my career path and that had more structure. I totally didn’t realize how much time, effort and patience finding the right place to work and grow would be. I was ready to slit my wrists after a few months. I kept thinking, “What the fuck is wrong with me? How can this be?” Downtime is bad for me. I need less of it. I am thankful to now be working a position that allows me to use what I went to college for (Hotel Administration) a little more and that is 100% travel. I didn’t have to relocate because we just jet off to whatever locale is next up on the training docket. I am technically on a long-term project though, so it will come to an end. In a nut shell, I do training and installation of computers when a new hotel opens or it’s converted from one chain to one of the brands in the large hotel company I am working for. It’s cliché’ corporate. I have 53 pages of reports to complete from the time I arrive on site to the time I depart. It’s VERY different from what I was doing before. In theory, I’d work two to three weeks a month at a few different locations, and have one or two weeks off, but a few months ago, I was working three or four weeks a month and now I have almost the entire month off from the hotel. (…that’s driving me crazy.) (…and we know that’s not a far drive.) I have more than a month off right now, and can’t handle all this time not at work. Ugh.

KILLIN’ TIME IN AMERICA’S BACKYARD

I’ve tried to fill the time off with trips. I spent a little bit of time at home in New Orleans, but got restless. I went to Las Vegas too and made sure to leave some sin behind. I went to Chicago and visited some friends there for a few days that was really great. I went to Ft. Lauderdale a couple of times too. I really like South Florida. I went a few places in between Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale and had some hot hook-ups. I even took a train trip where you sleep on the train in a sleeper car to take up time. Sleeping in a cabin on a US train was on my “Bucket List.” …but not anymore. It was so much fun and so beautiful. I really liked it. The trip from Chicago to New Orleans was 19.5 hours of watching America’s backyard go by. I drank a bottle of Merlot and watched the bayou’s go by. Can you believe the train was about $40.00 each way more than the one-way airfare? It was something I am glad I did. It was truly relaxing. I’m done relaxing.

HOOK-LESS

I was standing in a shower at a hotel and I looked up at the shower rod and saw the top of the shower curtain said, “Hook-Less” and I thought – "Yup.” I have a few friends that I have made along my escorting road that I am counting on keeping forever and I keep in touch with a few people here and there. I appreciate that. It’s a large part of who I am an what I value. My views on escorting still remain about the same. I just do less to none of it anymore. (I got fat. *wink*) I had an uncomfortable revelation when my boss at the site (…who is amazing, by the way.) asked me about a prime-time interview and I said yes instinctually, and then said no because of the hotel job. I felt like I had turned my back on everything I tried to stand up for. It was the very foundation of why I was working at www.rentboy.com and I consciously decided not to speak up for it when I had the opportunity, so I know that my life was headed around a new, somewhat familiar, barely lit corner. It’s difficult not to be the center of attention, the man who makes it all happen and be at every hot, gay party, but it’s a different world that has given me loads of experience to build on.

HOME SWEET HOMO

If someone asked me where “Home” is – it’s is still a varied answer. I get confused. I still share the apartment with Lisa in Las Vegas, but I haven’t been there in a few months. I am about to head back there this week though. Angel Benton took over my Las Vegas life in three easy steps and I couldn’t be happier. He’s living in Las Vegas with us too now. Jason Pitt moved to Arizona somewhere I don’t get to her from him personally much anymore, but it’s easy to keep track of people on Twitter and Facebook. I have been spending more time at the New Orleans apartment in the French Quarter. (We can talk about the inherent issues with being back in New Orleans here soon.) I enjoy this hotel job because it’s 100% travel, I go to a new hotel two or three times a month for a week at at time.

I really should say thank you to the people who asked what happened to www.partywithbrandon.com. I received a few emails that were encouraging and exciting for me. I even met an amazing guy at Southern Decadence this year who totally made the event hot and sexy as well as inspiring. He reminded me of how cool sharing your thoughts can be. It’d be great to say that this blog was solely to help people, but it’s not. It’s mostly to help me. I like the blog because it gives me a search field on my memory. …that way I can find things that happened online. Originally, my blog started out as a medium for me to share what it was REALLY and TRULY like to be an escort and creating a character. …that stayed a main thread and will always be, but that character has evolved and now it’s a different stage in life. (I have an “Evolution of PartyWithBrandon” in the works. …from the beginning to now, you’ll flip when you hear the whole story.) I totally owe a THANK YOU to the people who have stuck with my irreverent, incomprehensible, indiscriminate, insane blogging over the years. (…and my magical online disappearing acts.)

THE NEXT CHAPTER

I am armed for a new chapter in my online life. I have a mobile application on my Android to blog, my personal mini-laptop that travels with me and e-mail updates to make efforts to keep up with larger thoughts than you will find in one of my Tweets. (I’ve discovered I can say a whole lot in 140 characters or less.) We can look forward to some posts about boyfriends, switching career goals, shifting about the industry, some final www.rentboy.com events, Las Vegas friends, parents, parties – the list will go on. Life goes on. Let’s share it.

Don’t get too excited. I know I have been way behind in my blogging powers so the deal is when I get the notion, I write a whole bunch of them that I can put up when I am busy, but you can see how well that went for me. I am just putting up some of the entries that I have had for awhile in a row here now.

I wanted to take a break from studying what I am teaching a new hotel in Memphis tomorrow, and this was my outlet. *wink*

I will try to get to some more tomorrow night, but tomorrow is looking like it will be a late night for on the property.
